Going out:
Saigon Noodle House, Kaneohe
Spring Roll and Shrimp Vermicelli: One big bowl full of vermicelli, bean sprouts and mint topped with slices of crispy spring rolls and spicy shrimp.
--Under ten dollars and a stones throw away from home.
Koa Pancake House, Kaneohe
My all time favorite breakfast in town: Coffee, two pieces of grilled Portuguese sausage, one egg (suuny side up), and a perfectly, molded, dome of the most delicious fried rice. Top it off with half of Leigh's buttermilk pancake with homemade pineapple or coconut syrup.
--Local Hawaiian favorites served aswell- Loco Moco, Spam omeletes, etc.
Round Table Pizza, Kailua
Great neighborhood pizza place. Order up some garlic sticks, pizza and a pitcher of beer. Easy, casual, classic- not a round table in the place...
O'Tooles Irish Pub, Honolulu
An Irish Bar in China Town- but you wouldn't think you were China Town, let alone Hawaii.
As soon as you enter the dark, smokey, brick walled pub all visions of palm trees and beach babes fade away. Coming from Massachusetts, this was my first legal, visit to a bar where lighting up a cigar or cigarette was as common as ordering a pint.
Teds Bakery, Haleiwa
Always the first stop once we get to the North Shore. Cinnamon buns, breakfast sandwiches, fresh squeezed juice, and lots of local flavor. Definitely a surfer hangout.
